Bishop Mari Emmanuel stabbed while preaching in church
Mar Mari Emmanuel, the Sydney-based Bishop of the Church of the East, was stabbed by an alleged Muslim attack while preaching in his church last night. Mar Mari was famous for his hard-hitting sermons that hit back at the narrative during the COVID era, and has become widely known on social media for other sermons which uphold traditional Christian teachings. Several others, including a priest were also stabbed. At the time of writing, the Bishop’s condition is unknown.
Ethnic Christians demand justice over Mari attack
Thousands of ethnic Christians clashed with police outside Mar Mari Emmanuel’s Wakeley church after the bishop was stabbed. The group were demanding the release of the attack so that they could deal with him. At the time of writing, police from all over Sydney — including the Tactical Response Unit — were descending upon the church. There were unconfirmed reports on Twitter that parishioners at the church at the time of the stabbing dealt with the attacker by cutting off his fingers.
